_{It began in the early 1970s when Robert Schraner, a skilled boilermaker, partnered with a Chemical Engineer to start a small electroplating business — Continental Electroplating — in a modest factory on Lake Street, Booysens Reserve. A few years later, the business found its true home in Alrode South, where Continental Barrel Plating was born. Claudia Schraner soon joined, managing admin and finances, while in 1983, Robert’s daughter, Stefanie Schopflin, stepped in fresh out of school. With determination and grit, she mastered the trade — a journey that continues to this day. After Robert’s passing in 2012, Stefanie took over production while Claudia steered the finances. In June 2024, Claudia retired, leaving Stefanie at the helm. Today, Stefanie is passionate about growing people as much as the business. Through continuous training — both online and in person — staff have grown in confidence and leadership, nurturing the next generation of Continental Barrel Plating. For decades, Continental Barrel Plating cc has been a trusted name in electroplating, serving industries from electronics to mining, catering, and automotive.
